ForevaBlack family, have you ever desired more? Have you ever felt in your spirit that it’s time to receive, and that God has more for you? Sometimes we can feel when it’s time to remove some things and make room for the things God has promised us. Spiritually, we can be hoarders; we cling on to so many things God has asked us to release. Mentally, our minds can be overpowered by limited beliefs, cycles that no longer serve us, and anxiety... and those things can’t go where God is trying to take us.
This blog post is your reminder and your invitation: It’s time to make room. God has more for us – but He will not pour new wine into old wineskins (Matthew 9:17)
Mentally, we can carry so much and it’s taking up too much space. I’ll lead with this scripture, Romans 12:2 “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We hold on to different mindsets that God is asking us to let go, for example you may think you’re not worthy enough for God’s blessings and promises or that you have to be the one to make everything happen, and neither of those are true. These lies crowd your mind, leaving little to no room for God’s truth to be there. To receive true peace and joy, you have to go in a different direction... make room for journaling, worship music, one on one time with God, or even resting. In the stillness, that’s when God speaks the most.
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. I am doing a new thing... don’t you perceive it?” God is asking you today, “Can you let go so I can fill?” God wants to do a new thing in us spiritually; we can’t move to the new and holding onto the old. This includes old relationships God has already made it clear that is no good, opportunities that don’t align with Him, or past trauma that we have let identify who we are for so long. Let God lead you into unknown territory, and trust that there’s more where He’s taking you.
You don’t have to perform for God; you don’t have to “earn” what God has for you. You have to be open and available, open to receive and available to be present when God is speaking. The most powerful thing you can do is be open and receive. After reading this blog, I want you to reflect on this and ask yourself “What am I making room for?”
If you’re in a season where things are being taken away, consider this:
Maybe God is not punishing you, but pruning you.
Clearing your schedule, changing your circle, or even shaking your emotions could be God’s way of making space for the more you’ve been asking for. ForevaBlack family, it’s time to receive. Make the room. Make the sacrifices and allow God to give you what He has promised you. I love you all so much, talk to you next Thursday!
