Every space doesn’t need to be filled. While me and my mom were cleaning our downstairs closet today, I thought to myself I wanted to squeeze in one more thing but instantly the Holy Spirit said to me "Niya, every space doesn't need to be filled." It stuck with me, so I proceed to ask what does that mean? In the physical, we were just cleaning up and obviously leaving room for space, but there I was trying to declutter and still wanting to fill the space AGAIN. Spiritually, God is doing the same thing in us, but we’re always trying to put our hands on it and drag something back in. And the Holy Spirit let me know that when he gives us space in our life; whether that's space for love, space for Relationship with Him, space for healing, clarity, and even preparation.
Space makes us uncomfortable at times, and it’s because we’re so used to a cluttered life that when God declutters and removes things, we don’t even know how to sit with it. And if I’m being transparent… I’m struggling with this right now. I don’t like the empty spaces in my life. They feel uncomfortable, they feel awkward, and sometimes they even feel lonely. But the Holy Spirit reminded me that the space is not punishment—it’s preparation. God leaves space because He wants to fill it His way, not mine. The space is where trust grows, where healing happens, and where His presence becomes clearer.
God gives us space for so many things, things like growth. God will remove a toxic habit or person, and we want to bring that same thing back in. We’ll have to learn to stop placing our hands on us and allow God to do the work in us. LEAVE ROOM, keep that space clear until God gives you the greenlight for anything else. God gives us the space to be in a closer relationship with Him, and instead we try to distract ourselves with all kinds of things, but we need to sit in His presence, focus on Him and the plan He wants for us.
Let this be your reminder to not try to fill every space God has placed in the room for you. God is trying to do work in you and clean you up and clear your space to replace it with the things He has called for you to have in your presence. I want you to sit still and think about this question, ‘What spaces in your life is God asking you to keep clear right now?” Be blessed my ForevaBlack Family!
Scripture- Isaiah 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
