Unlearning the Reflection

Reflection is something we all see and can relate to on many different levels. Our reflection is how we see ourselves— this is our internal image, and it can be based off trauma, experiences, confidence, or how others have treated you. Here is the thing though… reflection can be distorted or influenced, but it can also be unlearned.

A question I have for you is: how is your reflection?

The way someone has treated you can make you feel like you have no value, and over time, you begin to see yourself through that same lens. You may have experienced delays or setbacks, and now you feel like you’ve failed yourself — let me tell you something though, that is not the truth.

The enemy will use our emotions and past experiences as tools to distort how we see ourselves; but your reflection can be changed. I know this from experience because growing up, I always thought because I was a plus-sized dark-skinned girl that I was not enough. Until one day I looked in the mirror and told myself I was beautiful every single day. I would put up sticky notes in my room, that says I am beautiful. I started to carry myself with a different confidence, and my entire view of myself changed. I started to feel more worthy, and knowing that I am valued and beautiful, and the reflection I once knew, was no longer.

Speak life into your reflection, God said we were fearfully and wonderfully made; until you see that reflection, you are feeding into what the enemy wants you to think your reflection is. Tell yourself in the mirror that you’re going to make it, you are the head and not the tail, your life will not be in the same spot forever; feed yourself with truth and MOVE in that truth, watch how things change for you.

Unlearn the reflection you were taught to see & relearn the reflection you were born to see! Love you all so much!
