There are times in our life where we had things planned out, but it never went the way we imagined it happening. It is because we are the the authors of our life, God is. God is the beginning and the end, and it is no different when it comes to writing our life story.
In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Did you hear that? The Lord said the plans HE has for us, not the other way around. We were never meant to write our own story; God never gave us the pen; we snatched it from Him.
We always feel the need to be in control our every little thing in our lives, when honestly, we are not in control of none of it; God just lets us feel that way sometimes. Haven’t you noticed how that same situation you keep trying to force, you keep getting the same result? That is because God is the author, and if he never intended for that to be a part of your story; it will not be. Or sometimes, He will allow something to be apart of our story, but it was never supposed to be inside of it… He just lets us do our thing, until we return the pen and let Him be in control.
God designed for our life to be so beautiful, He had every detail planned before we were even born. Even in Jeremiah 29:11, it shows us that through anything that happens in God’s plan for our life, the good and the bad; there is a purpose, and that good will come out of every plan He has for us.
Philippians 1:6 tells us that God has begun a good work in us, and He will fulfill that until Jesus comes back. God intends to finish that story, not halfway do it, but to COMPLETE it and He is going to make it good.
I wrote all of this to say, give God the pen back. Let Him do His work, let Him fulfill the purpose He has for your life. We are not the author of our life, we are not in control of anything; so, we should sit in the passenger seat and just trust Him to lead us on the greatest path there is. I know it can be difficult to trust, but if you can trust the pilot on a plane to take you to your destination, why can’t you do the same?
